The problem

You shouldn't have to become a care coordinator overnight.

A fall. A diagnosis. A discharge folder full of instructions and no one to carry them out. Most families find us in the middle of a moment they didn't plan for — trying to work, raise kids, and manage a parent's care from a hospital hallway. That's the moment we're built for. Empathy isn't a staffing list; we're a clinical team that takes ownership — assessing what your loved one actually needs, building the right caregiver team around them, and keeping you informed every single day, wherever you live.

Our services

Care that meets your family where you are

Most of our families start with hourly care — a few mornings a week — and grow as needs change. Every plan is written by a registered nurse and delivered by a consistent team your loved one knows by name.

Private Duty Nursing (Hourly) — Concierge care billed by the hour, from a few mornings a week to daily support — with vitals, daily charting, and fall-prevention vigilance built into every visit.

Skilled Nursing at Home — RN and LPN clinical care for complex medical needs.

Respite Care — Trusted relief so family caregivers can rest and recover.

Post-Hospital Recovery — Discharge-to-home support that prevents readmissions.

24/7 & Overnight Care — When hourly care needs to grow: round-the-clock coverage from the same trusted team.

Bathing & Dressing Care — Dignified help with the activities of daily living.

Companion Care — Connection, conversation, meals, errands, engagement.

Home & Lifestyle Support — Meal prep, medication reminders, housekeeping, transportation, coordination.

What sets us apart

Why Baltimore's most discerning families choose Empathy

1

Your own care team, not a rotation of strangers. We hand-select a dedicated team of 2–3 caregivers for each client — matched to medical needs, routines, and personality. Your mother learns their names. They learn how she takes her tea.

2

The Empathy Algorithm™: built by our founder, not licensed from a vendor. Our proprietary HIPAA-compliant platform gives your family a real-time window into care — schedules, your caregivers by name, timesheets, and invoices on web, iOS, and Android. Out of state? You'll still know how today went.

3

We don't just accept LTC insurance. We win the reimbursements. We prepare and file every ADL assessment, care log, and claim directly with carriers like John Hancock, Genworth, and CNA — and over 98% of our clients' claims are successfully reimbursed. Care never pauses while insurers deliberate.

What families say

“I met Keziah in the spring of 2017 after my wife of 50 years sustained a serious stroke. I knew immediately that she and her team were special… She is intelligent, knowledgeable, kind, a compassionate expert. She believes kindness can be taught. There could not be a more gifted teacher than Keziah.”

Larry Waterbury, M.D.Retired Johns Hopkins Physician & Professor

How it works

From first call to first visit — often within 6–12 hours

1

Talk to us. Call or send a request. Our founder personally reviews every inquiry — and your family receives our Client Intake Form: the story, preferences, and routines that shape everything.

2

RN assessment & care plan. A registered nurse visits your loved one at home, runs a full safety check, and writes a care plan your whole family can see.

3

Meet your care team. Hand-selected caregivers begin, with schedules and caregivers visible in your family apps — and the plan formally reviewed every 90 days or the moment needs change.

Caring from a distance

Managing Mom's care from another state?

The Empathy Algorithm apps show schedules, your caregivers by name, timesheets, and invoices in real time — while a personalized care notebook in the home, reviewed by a registered nurse, records every visit. A note from our founder

A note from our founder

“I've spent over 18 years in home health — first as a caregiver, then building the technology that runs it. I founded Empathy Algorithm, our digital care platform, because families deserved to see their loved one's care in real time. Then I built this agency on top of it. I still personally review every care request that comes through this website — because the decision you're making deserves that attention.” — Keziah Mwangi, Founder — Empathy Nursing Agency · Creator of the Empathy Algorithm™

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can care start?

In most cases within 6–12 hours of your first call, including the RN assessment and caregiver matching.

Do we have to commit to lots of hours?

No — most families start with just a few hours a few days a week. Plans scale up or down anytime, with the same team.

Do you accept long-term care insurance?

Yes — and we prepare and submit all documentation and claims directly to your carrier. Over 98% are successfully reimbursed.

Can family see what happens during visits?

Yes. The Empathy Algorithm apps show schedules, your caregivers by name, timesheets, and invoices in real time — while a personalized care notebook in the home, reviewed by a registered nurse, records every visit.

Are caregivers screened?

Rigorously. Every caregiver is Maryland-certified (CNA 1, CNA 2, or LPN), passes a criminal background check and driving-record verification, and is insured and bonded — before they ever meet a client. They then work under RN-supervised care plans with ongoing training in fall prevention and pressure-ulcer prevention. Your loved one's front door is a threshold we take seriously.

What areas do you serve?
